I'm Dr. Claudiu Coca — an orthodontist in Bucharest. I've been building this software for thirty years. Xalyra is where it finally grew up.
I learned to code in high school. While I was a dental student in the mid-1990s, I wrote the first version of this software in FoxPro — for my father's clinic. He was the dentist; I was the son who would become one too, and who couldn't stop building tools for the work.
I kept building as the languages changed underneath me: dBase IV, then Access, then the web. Different decades, the same project. Three of them now.
Today I'm a practising orthodontist, I still see patients, and the software still runs my own clinic. Xalyra is that lifetime project, finally on the cloud — the same craft, modern tools. Not a startup. A continuation.
People ask how one clinician builds a whole platform. The honest answer: I don't do it alone — I build it with AI, and that's the point. What used to need a team, a clinician with thirty years in the chair and a good set of tools can now build directly — with no committee deciding what a dentist needs.
That isn't a smaller version of a software company. It's a different kind. No investors to please, no quarter to hit, no one standing between me and the work. When something annoys me in the chair on a Tuesday, it can be fixed by Thursday. You're not buying a roadmap from a boardroom — you're using the tool its maker uses every day.
I treat patients with one rule above the rest: biology first. Don't reach for the knife or the hammer when a feather will do. I build software the same way.
◆ Your data is yours. Export everything as one file, any time. Keep your backups and photos in a cloud you control. If Xalyra vanished tomorrow, your records would still be sitting in your own drive. I'm a custodian of your work — never its owner.
◆ No games with the price. One flat price per clinic, every provider included — never per seat. Zero commission on your patients' money. I'm not standing between you and the people you treat.
◆ Health over hype. The same instinct that makes me slow down a patient chasing a fast, pretty result makes me refuse the dark patterns, the lock-in, the upsells. Software should serve the practice, not trap it.
◆ I don't have all the answers. The more I do this, the more I see how much there is to get right — so I keep questioning, keep shipping, keep listening. “Medicine is Science, Art, and Conscience,” wrote Iuliu Hațieganu. I try to build that way too.
This isn't a demo dressed up as a product. It's used every day in real clinical practice, and it has already carried real weight — including a full migration off OpenDental: seven gigabytes of live clinical data and twenty-one years of patient history, moved in and running. Try it yourself — the demo is real data you can click through.
Xalyra is operated by Claudiu Coca (a Romanian sole trader, PFA), EU-hosted with EU sub-processors. Exactly how your data is handled is written on the Security and Legal pages — and you can always reach me directly. contact@xalyra.app
